In 1909, almost a century ago, Gavarini’s was a tavern with
license to sell groceries which the inhabitants of the area and
passers-by shopped in. The first "turning-point" happened
in 1948 when Grandma Teresa, a professional cook, decided to keep
the tavern alone focusing on the culinary side. Banquets, above
all weddings, are and have always been successfully organized
in every detail.
The tradition has been maintained by the third generation: Elvezia,
to this present day prepares the pickled vegetables and homemade
desserts: skilled and experienced hands allow us to taste and
appreciate original flavours of the local gastronomy.
The next generation has caught up with the times and has decided
to offer more hospitality to their clients giving them the opportunity
of spending the night in one of 5 rooms, each well-restored and
located in one single house facing the restaurant garden. 1988
was the turning-point and the year of decision making: the end
result being successful and rewarding to those who had the courage
to pursue their ideas.
Today another part of the building alongside the house where the
rooms are, is being restored: the ground floor will be ready in
the year 2003. Here a cellar will be opened for wine tasting and
other rooms will be opened for particular occasions. The upper
floors will eventually be able to host 5 other double rooms and
4 mini-apartments. Fabio and his mother are working to finish
this project in order to unite traditional food with genuine hospitality.
